Show H. T. SHURTLEFF DIES IN HILL GREEK DISTRICT Well-Known Pioneer Stricken by Nephritis at, Age of Sixty-Eight. H. T. ShurtlefT. a 'pioneer of Utah, and a prominent citizen of Salt Lake county, died at ills residence, 'J6T5 South Fiftli East. In Mill Creek district, at G:30 o'clock Sunday morning of nephritis, aged CS years. Mr. Shurtlcff came to I'tah with his parents In IS 19. When he attained manhood man-hood He married and settled upon the fnrm wh?re he died, ami upon which, with the exception of a brief residence in Rush Valley, lie has since lived. lie was. one of the tlrst subscribers to the' Salt Lake Tribune and during the years it has "been printed 1t was a regular . visitor to the Shnrtleff home. .Mr. Slinrtleff was a member of the Mormon church for many yenrs and was sent on a mission ' to England. Afterward After-ward lie left the church. He was a member mem-ber of tho Constitutional convention and tho office of supervisor of highways were the only offices lie ever held- He was a good citizen and t lie world Is better that he lived. He leaves a widow and six children, the latter all grown. They aro II, s. Shurtloff. guard at the Utah penitentiary: peni-tentiary: K. D. and Arthur K. Shurtloff. who are In business at Twin Falls, Ida.; 1a. n. Shurtlcff, clerk of the Idanha hotel at Holse: Mrs. Nellie Shurtlcff Morgan, of La Belle, Ida., and Mrs. Charles Bell of Mill Creek.
