I County Attorney Nnthan Harris expressed ex-pressed his willingness to enforce the law and prosecute any offender If some one would swear to. a .complaint. Acting Act-ing under his instructions. Sheriff Wilson with yevornl deputies started out In search of evidence which would warrant the issuance of complaints. Several places were visited but a warning had probably been given and the. doors were found Jockecl with the shades tightly drawn. Although the Ministerial association and other citizens frequently have urged that some further action be taken toward closing these places, nothing more lias been done, although everybody knows that gambling still exists In the community. commun-ity. Appearing on the police docket under date of Friday last there are three names of gambling houses which by their representatives repre-sentatives have deposited the usual monthly ball of with the customary i forfeit. Members of the Ministerial association have begun to sit up and take notice of this, and will again make an appeal to the county officers. They take Ihe position posi-tion that this ball, whleh operates as a regular license, is an evidence of guilt and will Insist that the sheriff and county coun-ty attorney do their duty and prosecute therffendcrs. |
