The Melcalf Coal , company was Incorporated during the past week, with a capital stock of 100,000 shares, nt a pur value of $1 per share, taking over -PiS acres of coal land In the Scoflcld district, within with-in one mile of the Denver it Rio Grando railroad. American Fork will be the principal place of business. Tho officers are- James W. Motcalf, president; S. L. Chipman. vice-president; Sam Stark, secretary: sec-retary: Elijah Cutler, treasurer, these, with James II. Clarke. Abel J. Eans and 05 N. Child, compose the board of directors. The officers of the Utah County Light and Power company of Ihis city uro now very seriously considering Ihe erection of their fourth power plant. The recent 1500-horscpowcr plant which thev completed com-pleted at a cost of 5100.OU0. has received contracts requiring all the energy which it can produce. The main contract is for the furnishing of power to tho Knight mines'and smellers at Knlghlsvllle. which will require about lOOn-horsepower, the line for which is now being constructed, and no doubt will be completed beforo tho end of the present month. James II. Bigger of Salt Lake Citv has' made, application with the Slate Engineer for twenty cubic feet of water per second from the American Pork creek, at a point near the head of American Fork canyon. The water will be used for tho 1 generating of electrical energy, which will be used for the opcrntinjr of ma- 1 chlnory In the American Fork mining district. Dr. W. J. Holden. p.prL .Marsh and Eph.
