E.'Hall. a farmer, living near Warrensbuig, were killed, und James E. Basham and Robert Pollock, night officers, were seriously wounded tonight In a pistol duel in the corridor of the Estcs hotel. Tho three. . officers werp attempting to take an nutomat It-revolver It-revolver trom Hall, when he shot all throe. The officers returned the tire and Hall was shot twice. Two more Hhots were tired :at him by Louts Little, the negro porter of the hotel. After shooting the officers Hall ran up tho .stairway in the lobby mid atood on the landing as the porter llred at him. He then staggered into an alcove off the landing and unother shot was hoard. When Hall was found he was dead and his powder-hurncd shirt showed that he-had he-had beMi shot, a third time, througli the heart, supposedly by himself. Hall,, who was 35 years old and unmarried, unmar-ried, returned tonight from an absence I of flvo years in the State of Washington. I having been employed on a ranch near Spokane. . |
