James Hartwell, who was mysteriously hound over a month ago and left for dead along tho railroad track near Roy, was thi3 afternoon committed com-mitted to the state mental hospital by Judge Howell of the district court, following fol-lowing an examination by Drs. IT. 13. Forbes and J. K. Morrcll. Since the time the unfonmate man was picked up In an unconscious condition nnd brought to the Ogden hospitnl for treatment, ho lias been hovering between life and death. In-sane. At an examination this aftornoon, he talked rationally for :v few minutes, and then suddcnlv launched into an explanation explana-tion to the doctors that lie is Christ and Is her to savo souls. I In the opinion of tho physicians, he was suffering from this mental troublo some time before ho received tho blow on the back of the head. After being taken to tho hospital, he muttered something about a "shoe deal," which lead tho officers to bPllevc that he was in somo way connected con-nected with the murder of Deputy Sheriff Sher-iff Sevmour "lnrk of Uintah by a box car robber. At tho hearing this afternoon after-noon ho remembered nothing of his previous pre-vious utterances and this theory has been abandoned. He will be taken to Provo tomorrow. |
