Chapman, last year's manager of tho Salt Palace bicycle track, relumed to the city after an absence of nearly three weeks In tho East. While away Chapman says that, he secured the signatures signa-tures of some of the best rldors In the world. Ho also announced that all arrangements ar-rangements have been made for the immediate im-mediate erection of an eight-lap bicycle track at Saltalr, of which he will be manager. He has put In an orT'er for tho lumber, and while tho exact location for the track haa not been decided upon, it' Is probable that piles will be driven near the large pavilion, upon which It will ho built. The present estimated cost, of the track will be over $30,000, and it will be one of tho finest in the world. Chapman Chap-man said that no track could be built in the olty limits, as tho N. C. A. would not grant a franchise, but as .Saltalr Is outside of the required five-mile limit, a franchise was secured for It. As regards racing, Chapmnn said that he would give the people tho best sport he could secure and that he will import all the best riders for . competition. He says that Ivor Lawson and Frank Kiarnor have signed to ride In tho East all sum-mer, sum-mer, but he expects to secure them for an occasional race, together with nil the stars from Europe. |
