Show HERE IS PECULIAR DEAL Mormon Church Is Gainer on Pur-chaso Pur-chaso of School House. A decidedly peculiar real estate ceal in Salt Lako county has been reported. It is one in which tho Mormon church is tho gainer by a considerable sum. About three weeks ago the Pleasant View schoolhouse and grounds were sold to the Mormon church, to bo used as a meeting-house. It was a private sale, and the price paid was $500. Tho building is situated ou a corner lot which contains two acres of grouud. Land in this samo vicinit3 is bringing not less than $300 an aero, so that this land alone is worth at least $600. Several jears ago this same property was purchased b3' tho school board of that district for about $1000. Sinco that timo tho building has been kept in good repair and is probably in better bet-ter condition than when it was pur- ' chased. Tho population of the district has been and is increasing rapidly, and still the propert3' is sold to the Mormon Mor-mon church at a private salo at a much less sum than was paid for it, when it should have increased in valuo rather than depreciated. Tho children that attended this school are now being carried l3' wagon to tho Sugar schoolhouso ever3r da3 This is but an experiment, however, and should it not provo satisfactory the school board will hardly bo ablo to sceuro another site aud buildincr for $500. |
