Show BROTHERS MEET AFTER YEARS IF SEPARATION D. H. Morton of Brinton Central Cen-tral Figure in Strange Story. After a separation of a quarter of a century, D. H. Morton, a woll-known resident of Brinton, in Big Cottonwood canyon, has been entertaining his brothers. broth-ers. Silas Morton of Des Moines, la., and Elijah Morton of Yulo, la. Behind the reunion of the three brothers is a peculiar story. Twenty-five years ago D. H. Morton, who, at that time was suffering with lung trouble, was advised to go West. Ho accordingly secured a wagon and team, his physician advising him that out-of-door lite was best for hiin, and, bidding farewell to his home, lamily and friends at West Dayton, la,, started upon a journey to Colorado. lie slept in tho open air at night, cooked his ovrn meals and in time, much improved in health, reached tho Denver motropolis. There he disposed of his outfit and wont to work at his trade, that of a carpenter. After ten yours in Colorado Mr. Morton camo to Utah and settled at Brinton, whore he still resides. Pailed to Wrlto Homo. For many years, because of tho fact that ho was" fearful of receiving unwelcome un-welcome news. Mr. Morton says, he did not write to tlio members of his family in Iova, and they had for more than a decade given him up for dead. Recently, Recent-ly, however, his desire to hoar from his brothers arid sisters bocamo so great that he wrote to his old home for the purpose of locating them. After a time Mr. Morton learned that his father had passed away and that one of his two sisters nnd two of his thrco brothers also had crossed tho great divide. lie succeeded, howover, in locating the remaining re-maining members of the family, and two brothers decided to give him a surprise. sur-prise. As a result, when Mr. Morion returned re-turned to bis home recently from a business busi-ness trip, he was astonished to find tho house occupied. Having carefully locked the door upon his departure, ho was astonished wncn he loarnod that ttvo strangers had effected an ontranco and were making themselvos at home. Ho cntcrod the house at once and asked for an explanation. Explanations Given. "Aro you Mr. Morton?" one of the strangers asked. "Yes," was tho reply; "but who are you 7 " The strangers broke into a laugh and explained that they were brothers of Mr. Morton from Iowa The remainder of this interview can better bo imagined. imag-ined. He took them to all the resorts, re-sorts, both in tho valleys and tho mountains, moun-tains, climbed peaks with them, showed them bear tracks and in many other ways gave them the time of their lives. |
