Tho question of car demurrage raised by the grain merchants of tho Stato and presented to representatives of the railroads at various conferences held last week has been decided by tho railroad companies rescinding tho order or-der and granting tho dealers twenty-four twenty-four hours free tirao in which to sample tho grain and forward to destination. It will be recalled that circular No. S, issued by tho Car Service association, associa-tion, abolished" all free time except for loading aud unloading cars. First, tho smelting and sampling men objected strenuously to the order and it was modified ior -their benefit. Until tho issuauco of tho circular grain merchants were allowed twenty-four twenty-four hours in which to sample and grade grain in transit. Under tho circular cir-cular this was no longer permissible and they appealed to tho railroad oilicials for relief, which has beon given by tho decision entered permitting orders to remain as they were. |
