Show AMERtOAN PARTY GROWTK. The widely-extended benefits which ' the American party 'administration of this city is conferring upon the city and upon the people are the admiration of J every , visitor from whatovor part of Utah he comes. When tho church activity, activ-ity, .through Mayor Morris, was in control con-trol here, tho city tax was raised in the first year from nine mills to ten mills, and in his second year from ten mills to eleven mills, each time on a swelling assessment roll. The American city administration, although al-though expending immensely more in public improvements and doing much repair works in making a. grand and beautiful city here, has not for any municipal purpose raisod the taxes at all. Tho only raise in the taxes this year over last year on city account is to pay the $40,000 interest which this year for the first tirno is due upon the $1,000,000 water and sower bonds voted by the taxpayers in 1905. On ' every other municipal account, except this mere matter of interest, the tax is prc-cisoly prc-cisoly the same as before. There has been no raise whatever, and no raise is in contemplation. A delegation of Uintah gentlemen were in this city last week and had their eyes opened to tho benefits of American administration. Uintah county coun-ty has been oppressed by church and ring rule until tho people aro tired, disgusted, and indignant. These gentlemen gentle-men stated strongly aud nlainlj' that the people wanted a. change; they demanded de-manded an independent ticket of their own, that would be entirely freo from tho old shackles, and with which they could go in. and win, to the advantage of every taxpayer in Uintah county, and to the furthering of independent sentiment and free American voting. These gentlemen received every attention atten-tion and encouragement whilo in this city, and they went homo fully resolved to make Uintah county a free American county, and knock oft from every public pub-lic utility and officialdom there the shackles of church rule und priestly despotism. |
