AH of tho excursionists aro enthusiastic en-thusiastic as to their treatment, the welcome they received, and above all, as to the prospective value aud richness of the trade which will bo developed at Ely. Tho mines there aro unqeustipn-nbly unqeustipn-nbly of tho most permanent character, and the ore in immense masses is unusually un-usually rich for such largo deposits. The final ceremonies, the spike driving, tho speak;ng, and the disposition of the peo-plo peo-plo toward Salt. Lake aud toward Og-den, Og-den, were of the very finest order. There can be no qeustion but that tho excursion will yield rich results in trade and commercial benefits, both for Ely and for the Utah -points. This city naturally expects to be the metropolis and the center for the mastj of the trade. Ely would be glad to have it so, and undoubtedly Salt Lake City with her inunenso start in mining machinery houses, in smcltors, and in all forms of reduciiou works and mining activities, can easily lead. This lead will enable tho plants in this immediate vicinity to care for all the ores which the mines can supply, and they will handle them :o such advantage that Salt Lake's long lend can never be overtaken. Everything has the most auspicious outlook, r.int great results are sure to follow from the enthusiastic excursion. The Tribune congratulates all concerned on the success of this establishment of communication with that great and rich mining regiou. Wo trust that everything every-thing may continue as favorable as it has begun, and that Ely will reap ns rich rewards from Salt Lako as Salt Lake will reap from Ely. |
