He was !o pleased with the prosperity that is apparent !n Salt Lako and declares that It In evident to him that this city Is approaching a treat era of advancement. Interests at Peace. It Is the prevailing opinion In Butte, Mr. Cooney asserts, that the Amalgamated and Helnzo Interests arc nt peace. And. what Is more gratifying to the people of Montono, he declares, Is that it Is understood that tho Amalgamated interests were compelled to listen lis-ten to F. Augustus Helnzo through the effective ef-fective manner In which the latter fought the trust. Mr. Cooney stated that he, like all the others of, Montana, lo Jubilant over the ending of tho great copper war, and that It Is the firm belief that peace will result In tha resumption re-sumption of operations at a number of rich mines that have lain Idle ao a reult of tho litigation between tho two great Interests, all of which has been dropped. The ending of tho creat conflict, Mr, Cooney declares, marko tho advent of a period of greater prosperity in Montana. Big Increase in Population. Mr. Cooney mnlntains that Butto haa in-crcabod in-crcabod In tho last twelvo months at least 15.000 people. It Is difficult, he aoeerts, to sc-curo sc-curo residences, and, as a result, a great amount of construction work Is In progress and properlty reigns. Hns n Great Showing. Mr. Coonoy was the organizer of tho Butto Coppr Mining and Smelting company, the Interests In-terests of which were only, recently absorbed by tho new East Butto Mining company, nnd through which he realized a neat sum of money. He states that the showing In tho property Ih easily ns good as that in tho North Butto ground, tho stock of which created great excitement In the copper world by limpid li-mpid upward iKiundn Has Ten Shafts. Tho property has ten shafts, nlno of which are now producing approximately 150 tons of ore dally that will go C per cent copper. The deepest working on the property at present is 350 feot. but the tenth shaft is now" being sunk to a thousand feet.
