Show ELKS WILL HAVE GREAT TIME. Extensive Preparations Are Being Mado for Annual Meet. Special to Tho Tribune. OGDEN, Aug. 23. Tho coming annual convention of tho B. P. O. E.. .which opens at Ogden on August 20 and continues contin-ues until earlv morning of August 31, will bo ono of the most brilliant events over witnessed In Ogden. Every lodge of the Elks in tho State will bo represented, and after the business of tho order Is disposed dis-posed of (which will bo Inconsiderable) tho two days will bo given over to pure enjoyment. Exaltod Ruler Judgo J. A. Howell of local lodgo No. 719 will bo here for tho occasion and ono of tho best programmes of entertainment over prepared will be offered tho visitors and tho local members. mem-bers. A3 an . Inducement to mako things pleasant, prlzco have been offered for public decorations. For tho best decorated deco-rated building a prize of $15 is offered; for the best decorated window tho prlzo Is $10; and for the second best decorated window or building J5 will bo given. Tho commltteo on awards will consist of three persons, especially selected and not members of tho order. Tho programme outlines that tho members mem-bers of the local lodge will mCet the visitors vis-itors and delegates at tho depot at 11 a. in. of Tuesday, "or thereabouts," and will escort them to the clubrooms on Washington avenue, whero a reception will be held. At 2 p. m. tho convention will convone. and at 7:30 there will bo a grand parade. "This will bo a parade," Is tho motto. At 8:30 an aggregation of monstrosities, such as Ogden has never seen, will bo on exhibition at Utabna park. Nora, the mysterious and nameless wondor, will at last be revealed, and tho glass blowers-no blowers-no greater blowers have ever been seen, even among tho Elks and that's saying some will be thoro. Many unusual features will bo offcrod, and tho second dav's attractions are, If anything, grenter than tho first. Among tho entertainment that tho local lodge will glvo Its friends nnd visitors will bo an nutomobilo trip up Ogden canyon on the second day of tho convention. Thoro Is nothing on tho programme for the early morning of the third day. It will bo as tho fates dictate. |
