Show CLERK SELLS PASSES Railroads Defraudod of S20,000 Worth of Transportation. CHICAGO, Aug. 23. A conspiracy by which the railroads centering In Chicago havo lost transportation estimated to bo worth J20.000 was made public today by tho discharge of O. C. Olson, an empioyco of the Santa Fo railroad. Olson was chief stenographer In tho office of President Presi-dent E. P. Ripley, and took enro of the Issuing of passes and of tho requests mado by tho road .upon other lines for transportation. By a freo uso of the request blanks left In his charge and previously signed by President Ripley and by a similar use of tho passbooks signed by W B. .Tansen, assistant to tho president, Olien secured transportation and disposed of It to outsiders. out-siders. It Is not bollovcd that Olson profited In a pecuniary way by tho Issuance of tho passes, but oxchanged them for theater tlckots and gnvo much transportation to theatrical men. |
