Confronted by a big rattler at Kcnflworth Lake, near Marlton, this afternoon, during a picnic. Mrs. Henry W. Roberts was charmed and could not get away. Tho reptile, four feet long and as thick as a man's arm. with six rattles and a button, wns basking In the hot sun when Mrs. Roberts, unawaro of her danger, camo within thrco feet of It. She came near stopping on it. Touching It with a stick. It colled up but did not strike With her eyos riveted on tho serpent, which seemed to approach, sho called for help. Mon had a hard fight to kill the snake, which -rondo a gallant resistance. The skin Is to be preserved. |
