The party loft hero In a special car for Salt L&ko tonight. Tho work of development In the Hickory Hick-ory and Harrington-Hickory Ik progressing pro-gressing rapidly and with most gratifying gratify-ing results. Especially Is this so In tho Harrington-Hickory, whero the nrlnclnal work Is being done In tho Gomor shaft, directed toward tho great porphyry dike. The oro already In this mlno Justifies the conclusion that It Is a property of wonderful won-derful possibilities, and Is now a largo producing mine. I About the O. K. Tho O. K. mlno In Banner Lake district dis-trict Is responding satisfactorily to the rncrgles of the lessees. Tho last shipment ship-ment of oro brought satisfactory returns. Tho O. K. is a great property and, when properly exploited, will prove to be one of tho most prnlltablo and valuable properties prop-erties of tho Majestic company. 1 Joo Tavey. a skillful miner, shipped a vTo!lta.bl9 carload of oro from tho Marionette Mari-onette mine, owned by Matt Cullen, a few days ago. Tho Marionette was a fa-1 fa-1 mous mine of Star district and a great producer in the early days, tho ores of which aro rich in silver and lead. New Lease o Life. The indications now arc that tho mining induHlry In and around Mllford Is about to lake on a new leaso of life, and that mining in tho districts tributary to this place will bo more actlvo tho coming fall and winter than at any tlmo In tho history of Mllford. Thero Is a cnuso for this. This county, It has been determined by tho mining experts, is one of the. great mineral belts of tho "West, and may bo mado to respond profitably by intelligent work as readily as any other portion of this great State. As a proof of this, tho great Horn Silver Is an example. The wonderful Cactus, as a copper producer, 13 perhaps ono of the greatest In the country. Old Cave Mine. Tho old Cave mine, seven miles east of Mllford, hat yielded $750,000 In gold, and that, too, without much expenditure in labor pr outlay. Tho Carbonato and Rattler mines were also great producers twcnty-llvo years ago. And hundreds of other mines In Beaver county mlplit bo mentioned that have yielded comforlablo fortunos to their owners. There Is a reflex movement from the uncertain, treacherous sand duneH of southern Nevada, and an a result the conservative con-servative "investor Is seeking a foothold In tho country of well-defined, permanent ledges', such as Beaver county Is full of, as development In every mining district in this county has demonstrated. Unique Miner's Candlestick. Marion. Baker, head blacksmith at the , Majestic company's Old Hickory mine, has constructed a minor's candlestick, perhaps tho most convenient and unique thing of Its kind ever Invented. Tho stick Is dovetailed in its handle. Tho thimble Is dovetailed through the handle nnd stick. The hook is dovetailed through both and lock3 them all, thereby making a solid stick. It Is ssild by experienced miners to be the most perfect thing of It3 kind yet constructed. It will bo placed on exhibition at tho Beaver county fair to bo held next month. Joseph Huntington of Beaver,- brother-in-law of Dan Ferguson, superintendent of tho Moscow mine, died on Wednesday. His death was wholly unexpected and was. a shock to his many friends. He v. as 'burled today. Mineral Commissioner Selected. A. "V. "Wlnberg, Jr.. of Mllford has been appointed a member of the mineral committee com-mittee of Beaver county at tho coming county fair to bo held at old Fort Cameron Cam-eron the latter part of next Soptomber. ThO'selectlon of Mr. Wlnberg Is In every vny eminently satisfactory, as he Is recognized rec-ognized as one of tho most enterprising citizens In Beaver county, besides being directly interested In mines and mining. |
