The activity of the t fflcials of the Western Pacific at the present time Is Indicative of the intentions of the promoters of that line. Late last evening J. M. Horbert of tho Colorado &. Southern and general manager of that road, which is acknowledged and known to be a part of the Gould transcontinental 8 stem, passed through Ogden In Colorado Midland special car No. 200. With him was a party of engineers and railroad exerts. ex-erts. Today the news Is received from Wells, Nev., to the effect that the party Is sidetracked side-tracked there and that from .that nolnt they will extend their operations for a distance of 100 miles or more. Just what their work is there is no certainty. That t hey are on Western Pacific business those best Informed say that there is no doubt. This conclusion being' correct there Is little lit-tle reason to doubt that the Western Pacific, Pa-cific, when built, will come into Ogden. How long it Is the purpose of Mr. Herbert Her-bert to remain at Wells has not been an-: an-: ounccd. All the Southern Pacific officials offi-cials know Is that he Is there with his engineers; that his car has bpen hung up at Wells indefinitely, and that his operations opera-tions are such that he will take In many miles of the country north and west of Walls- |
