Show HAS REMEDY FOR FINANCIAL ILLS Lawson Won't Tell What It Is. American People Must Have Faith in Their Deliverer. De-liverer. After Selling Their Stocks Back to the "System" They Will Be Prepared, for Great Light. ST. PAUL, Minn., July 13. "I have no political ambitions. I could not accept political offlco were it tendered me. I havo work cut out which oven If I devote eighteen hours per day to it will last mo until I am over W) years old too old to think of political honors." So said Thomas W. Lawson In an address ad-dress to a largo audience nt tho People's church In this city tonight. Wo Political Fvevolution. Mr. Iawson did not deliver a sot speech; he talked Informally In a conversational tone, dovotlng his tlmo to answering a Gerics of questions propounded to him by a local nowspaper. Ho declared that should his so-callod remedy be put Into effect thero would bo no political revolution; revolu-tion; tho various parties would go on battling for their principles as heretofore No Slore Inflation. But a great financial revolution thero would be; thero would bo no moro stock Inflation; tho money stolen from the peo-plo peo-plo by tho "System1 would bo returned to tho peoplo and becnuso railroads and industrial in-dustrial corporations would havo only to earn n fair percentage on tho truo value of their Investments, tho cost of living would bo reduced nnd wage-earners would bo able to enjoy greater luxuries and to lay by a greater portion of their earnings. People Must G-et Ready. As to when he would promulgate this remedy, ho said that It would be foolish to mako It known until tho peoplo were ready for it; otherwlso tho "System" would find means to render It non-effective. Tho peoplo must first got rid of their stocks and bonds: sell them to tho "System" "Sys-tem" at tho present Inflated prices, and thon when the "System" was forced to let them go, tho peoplo should buy them back cheaply and forover keop the control con-trol in their own hands Panic Might Ensue. When this had been accomplished his remedy, which ho declared to bo a slmplo business proposition, could bo put into forco, nnd thero would never again be Inflation of capital stocks. As to whether or not his plan wa6 a dangerous ono, he , replied that It was; that is, dangerous "for the other fellow." A panic might onsuo; in fact, ho hoped and bolioved a panicwould ensue, but. not until tho peoplo peo-plo had sold their stocks to tho "System." Reverse the "Machine." "My friends." said Mr. Lawson, "Wall street is nothing but a machine a trick machine. Every year financiers run the American peoplo through that machlno from one end to the other, and as thoy pass through the money In their pockets falls Into tho 'System's' bucket. What I propose to you Is simply to reverso the operation; run tho 'System' through tho other way, and In that manner separate them from their ill-gotten gains and return re-turn their stolen millions to tholr rightful right-ful owners tho American people " Some Insurance Companies Honest. Of tho lnsnranco question ho eald that his fight was not against honest insurance, insur-ance, and ho believed that most of tho Insurance companies were based upon honest principles. Somo of them, how-ovor. how-ovor. wore run In a dishonest manner. Ho expected to bring suits ngalnst certain Companies on behalf of 5000 policy-holders, in an effort to secure restitution of money wrongfully retained, and theso suits would bo prosecuted to tho end. Mr. Lawson was Introduced to the audience audi-ence by Gov. John A. Johnson, and throughout his address was frequently applauded, |
