Show Secret Practice at the 'Varsity Haddock, Plummer, Channing and Van Cott 'Put tho "TJ" Team Through Strenuous Drill. Behind closed gates at Cummlngs' field yesterday afternoon, Conch Mnddock and his assistants put tho 'Varsity squad through a vigorous practice. Dr. C. G. Plummor. R. H. Channlng and Dr. Van Cott cumo up to help drill the linemen and backs and from tho appearanco of tho playors when they left tho field, the work-out was a strenuous one. As no one was allowed Inside the oncloeurc except the coaches and players, little Is known of what transpired. However, at-the close of the practice all of tho coaches expressed ex-pressed themselves as bolng well pleased with tho showing mndo by the men. This afternoon tho "Ur team will be given Its Inst hard practlco beforo Saturday's Sat-urday's game. No scrimmage work will bo done, but tho gridiron glndlators will bo rushed through their slgnalH at a merry clip under the direction of four or fivo couches Friday afternoon the team will tiiko a brief work-out and rccelvo Its final Instructions. Tho line-up has already al-ready teen practically decided and It la quite likely that the following men will open the battle with tho giants from tho north: Bennlon, Brown and Russell will play the backfleld positions. Wade will occupy his old position at quarter, Rob-bins Rob-bins at center, Carlson and Barton at guards, Hope and Peterson at tacklo and Pitt and Anderson at end. |
