Show I GREETED BY NEIGHBORS. Several Hundred Friends of Fairbanks Fair-banks Extend Congratulations. INDIANAPOLIS, Nov. 1C Political nsplratlons and affiliations were forgotten forgot-ten tonight when several hundred representative repre-sentative mon of the Republican and Democratic parties assembled at the Commercial Com-mercial club to congratulate Vlcc-Presl-dent-eloct Fairbanks. John W. Kern, Democratic nominee for Governor, sat side by side with Senators Beverldge and Fairbanks, and tho combination com-bination added enthusiasm when the leaders lead-ers of the two parties engaged in' friendly political repartee. Mr. Kern acted as chairman of the meeting. Senator Fairbanks, who was given prolonged pro-longed applause when he rose to speak, was touched by the welcome, "AH the words of Ihe human tongue." he said, "are too poor to. express my appreciation of this kind and generous greeting." The Senator remarked on the lack of bitterness In tho past campaign, which he believed was less than ever "before, "ln all my political experience," he said, "no word has oscaped my lips that I would not utter to my dearest friends." Senator Fairbanks and Mrs. Fairbanks v ill leave tomorrow for Springfield. O., where the Vice-President-elect will visit his mother during the evening, leaving on the following day for New Haven for the Yale-Harvard football game. Senator Fairbanks said tonight that he might not return west until after the next session of Congress had been called. |
