A gold chain bracxlnt. with the Theta Delta Chi college col-lege fraternity emblem on tho padlock, which Miss Mabel Wilson Reynold of Salt Lako lost In tho Subway last Wednesday, Wed-nesday, has betrayed tho secret of a hidden hid-den marriage and precipitated the announcement an-nouncement that proceedings havo been begun to havo It annulled. The appeal of Miss Reynolds to havo tho bracelet returned, published In the newspapers today, brought to tho office of tho newspaper Fr.-d L. Parker, a student stu-dent at Columbia university, who was wll-lly SXClted. and demanded to sc tho letter rr.-m mi-h Reynolds which alluded to the bracelet as tho pledgo of a bond between her and a Theta Delta Chi man. George N. Shafer. He declared that he kn.-w Miss Reynolds had never written such a letter, owing to tho fact that sho could not be engaged to Mr. Schafer, because be-cause she was married to him. On seeing the letter the young man admitted ad-mitted that the l.-tter wns authentic. Ho said sadly that he had be. n married to her "privately" by the Rev. Dr John C. A. Beakar, pastor of the Morning Side Presbyterian church, on December 1. but thai they had parted shortly afterward. Miss Reynolds refused to say whether a marrlago hail taken place and referred forcefully to Mr. Parker as a "cad."
