Show WATSECA MINES CLOSE. Expense of Keeping Down Flow of Water Too Expensive. Special to The Tribune BUTTE, Mont., Jan. 9.-The Watseca Mining company, which has been operating operat-ing the Watseca mines and mills In tho Rochester district of Madison county, during dur-ing tho last few years, has decided to suspend operations for the present. Work In tho mines and mill will bo itoOPOd January li. The lower workings of tho mines will bo permitted to 1111 with water. Tho company has between 1M and ITS men on Its payroll. Th Watseca Is acknowledged to bo the greatest water producer In Montana, tho (low every twentv-four hours reaching more than 1.000,000 gallons. Tho mines ccntain good ore. but the expense of keeping keep-ing tho water down Is tremendous. Recently the company has had on of Its two mills In operation, which has been crushing between 125 and lo0 tons of ore per dav. The bulk of the stock In the Watseca companv Is h id by A.
