Show Trains Collide, Infyrlng iaiy Switch, ILoft Open, Into Which a Passenger Pas-senger Tlutndered, Heading Against Freight. VINCENNES, Ind., June 19. Thun-' Thun-' dcrfng down a yleep grade today at the rate of ninety miles an hour, a Baltimore & Ohio Southwestern South-western passenger train ran through an open switch, colliding with a freight train and resultingjn the Injury to over sixteen persons, three of whom may die. Seriously injured: John Elsenhart, aged. 9. J. Lu Wltner, Cincinnati. Ed Mason. The severely Injured include Rev. M. Porter, Vlncennes, Ind.; Capt. George W. Van Dusen, artillery corps, Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and C. Vv. Brown, Dallas, Tex., besides both firemen and the engineer of the freight train. The Interior of the dining car. which was most badly damaged, was bespattered be-spattered with blood and the furniture was a mass of debris. The cars were new and so constructed ns to make it almost - impossible to telescope them. |
