Washburno of tho grain firm of Heathfleld & Washburne. shot and killed his wife and fifteen-year-old daughter Friday at their residence and then committed suicide. sui-cide. It Is believed the deed was committed commit-ted while Mr. Waahburne was suffering from a temporary fit of insanity. He had written a lettor lo a relatlvo recently, saying say-ing he was having trouhio In business The tragedy was discovered by a relative rel-ative who called at the Washburn house shortly before noon. When tho police arrived they found Mrs. Washburn Wash-burn and her daughter lying dead, side by sido. In bed. Washburn was dead on the floor at the foot of the bed. Evidently Evi-dently Washburn Bhot the girl first as she lay in bed. When Mrs. Washburn, aroused by the shot, partly raised herself her-self in bed. Washburn fired tho second sec-ond shot, the bullet entering the woman's wo-man's left templo and causing instant death. Washburn then picked up a mirror to take aim and shot himself In the rlsrht temple. The news of the tragedy had the effect ef-fect of paralyzing the grain exchange for the remainder of tho cloy. Washburn Wash-burn wa-s an ardent spiritualist.
