BERLIN, July 1G. A trial which the Prussian authorities began July 12 at Koenlgsberg, at the instance f the Russian Government, against seven So-Hal-Democrats accused ot smuggling anarchistic literature Into Russ-la, attracts at-tracts very great attention. The newspapers throughout Germany are printing columns ot verbatim reports re-ports of the testimony. The presiding judge thereupon came to the defence of M. Von Wymodze, saying the decisive sentences were in the other pamphlet.". To this, Herr Llebknecht rejoined: 1 "This garbled translation gave the Im- pcrlal chancellor and other ministers the occasion to make the gravest 1 charges against the Social-Democracy. j It wan precisely the above penlenco 1 which played the most promlrfent role in the public discussion." The Judge did not permit Herr Lieb-knecht Lieb-knecht to make any further remarks on this line and excused M. Von Wymodze for the errors in translation of the pamphlet on account of the brief time j he devoted to the work. Counsel Schwartz expressed astonlsh- j ment at the brief time permitted to M. Von Wymodze to arrange words which were not connected with the pamphlet. Again Aided by Judge. The Judge again. In a sharp tone, replied re-plied that this was an insinuation that the additions were purposely made. Dr. Bailed, lecturer, at the University of Berlin, testified to the harmless character char-acter of tho Social-Democrat pamphlets, submitted to hhri by the court for examination. ex-amination.
