CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo., June 10. i Acting under the orders of Adjt. j Gen. Sherman M. Bell of the State National Guard, a special train was made up shortly after noon i today In the Short Line yars at Victor for the deportation of seventy-six union miners. The men were marched to the train between heavy lines of militia and deputies. Affecting Scenes. A crowd of fully 1000 people had col- I lected to see the men placed on board. Among the spectators were wives and sisters, fathers and mothers of the deported de-ported men, and the scenes were very affecting. Mothers, sisters and sweethearts sweet-hearts cried good-bye and tried to push through the lines for a parting handshake. hand-shake. Most of the women had been allowed to see their relatives at Armory Ar-mory hall before the men were marched out. Charged With Murder. Another party of exiled men will be sent out of the district tomorrow. Sixty men confined in the Cripple Creek -bull pen were taken to the county. Jail today to-day and clrargC3 of murder were placed against them. Agitators Must Go. "Within forty-eight hours this district dis-trict will be rid of all agitators and other oth-er objectionablo men." said Gen. Boll today. "One deportation after another will be made until none of the men who have terrorized the district so long will be left here. We Intend to continue arresting ar-resting men who are not wanted here and they will be run out as fast as possible. Unionists Are Scared. "The unionists are scared and many arc leaving the county of their own volition to avoid arrcBt and incarceration. incarcera-tion. There are still some desperate characters among the hills, however, whom we Intend getting, no matter what the cost. An amendment has been made to the agreement being circulated by committees commit-tees from the Citizens' alliance pledging pledg-ing Its members not to employ mem- bers of unions afllllntcd with certain labor organizations. Tho names of the American Federation of Labor has been stricken out and that of the American Labor Union will be substituted. As it now stands the agreements apply to the local Trades' assembly, the American Ameri-can Labor Union, the State Tabor Union and the Western- Federation of Labor. |
