Show GOOD MEETING IN PBOVO. Newell and Pinchot Address Utah. County People. TRIBUNE SPECIAL Provo, Jan. 20. Prof. F. H. Newell of the United States geological survey, and Gilford PInchot, chief of tho forestry bureau, bu-reau, stopped off In Provo and addressed a largo and attentive audience at the courthouse on tho Utah lake reservoir project. The meeting represented tho irrigators ir-rigators of Utah county and a great many prominent men camo from all parts of tho county to attend, All were civen an opportunity op-portunity to express their views on the proposition and ask questions portalning thereto. The consensus of opinion was that tho people of Utah county would not object to tho rcscrvolrlng of tho lake by the Govorn.ucnt if their rights wore respected re-spected and thoy wero recompensed fr any damages dono their land and proporty A majority of the peoplo favored the building of mountain reservoirs and tho storing of water high up In the mountalnn so that the loss by evaporation would not be as groat as on tho lake Prof Newell explained tho proposition from tho Government Gov-ernment standpoint In about tho oame language h6 used to the cltlcns of Salt Lake county. Ho stated that the lako project pro-ject was the first thing to bo considered In tho big scheme, but that tho development develop-ment of the upper wators would not bo neglected but would romo Inter. From what ho had aoen a,nd heard during the day tho outlook for tho proioct was full of promise Prof: "Now-Vll assured tho people peo-ple of Utnh county that their Inter sts would be looked after by the Government and would not be made to suffer for the benefit of Salt Lako county.
