Much snow has fallen, Impeding otrect car traffic. Loganaport, Iiul., Jan. 20. The lco in the Eel river above I.ogansport went out at 10 o'clock last night below the Tenth street dam and a huge gorge, more than twelve foet high, hns been formed at Fifth street. Against this the water Is rising so rapidly that It threatens threat-ens to flood one side of the city. Several Sev-eral blocks are nlrcady flooded. Shortly Short-ly nftor the Ice went out tho water backed into the wheels of the electric light and water plants and forced theni to slop. Philadelphia. Jan. 20. Because of tho continued cold weather and the consequent conse-quent forming ot Ice floes, na'lgation on the Delaware river and buy wa practically suspended today. A dozen large vessels, several of them trans-Atlantic steamships, are prevented from continuing their voyage because of the thickness of the Ice In the river. Syracuse, X. Y., Jan. 20. The east-bound east-bound train on the Delaware. Lacka wanna & Western, which left here at 10 o'clock hut night, became stalled In the snow at Summit and was unable to movo until nearly noon today. The trolley line to Auburn was forced to suspend business. Heavy drifting snow has paralyzed all the railroads except the main line of the New York Central, where trains are late. |
