Each day J ' was marked by the small and informal ' ' events which are always so pleasant, and which constitute in great measure ! the social life at Lenten time. The de parture of the troops was another- event j ; of Importance, as it marked' the, leaving I of a number of ofilcers and ladies who have been most popular during their stay at the post, and their going was a source of keen regret. The chief event of the coming week In the I - social world will be the marriage of Miss June Mclntyre and Fred C. Dern, I : which takes place on Tuesday evening. In honor of the Hj day, the national colors were carried out in all the decorations, which were benu-tlful benu-tlful but not elaborate. Red, white and blue lights were thickly strung around the broad verandas; a large American flag was draped over the hall door; great clusters of American Beauties adorned the dlnlng-table, while vases of Hj white carnations were effectively placed j in drawing-room and library. Down- stairs the billiard room was gay with Its decorations of red, white and blue flags being draped over the celling and walls in truly artistic style. A large 1 room on the third floor was decorated In the national colors, uud' rugs, couches and downy pillows made It a most ln-yltlng ln-yltlng retreat for the gentlemen. In a few days Mrs. Harry Irwin leaves H for New York, and will sail from that H port on March 12th for a two months' H visit with her mother and sisters in an altogether pleasant one, and very I much enjoyed by all present. Miscellaneous Events. Mrs. Joseph E. Gallgher was hostess at a very informal luncheon on Friday. v Some twenty friends of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar L. Salt Lake- friends last week received Invitations to the marriage of Miss Isa-belle Isa-belle Coulter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank M. Carmen Car-men Lesne and Squire Coon, which took place in New York on Thursday last, was read with interest by many friends in various parts of Utah. The groom is one of Utah's well-known singers, and tho bride an accomplished French girl, who came to America a lew years since to inake her home. Mr. and Mrs. Coop left New York immediately after the ceremony for Utah, and will make their home -in Ogden. Euchre Party. One of the pleasant afternoon events of the week was the euchre party of Thursday afternoon, when Mrs. Emma Ellerbeck and her daughter, Mrs. T. D. Lewis, entertained at a euchre party. Red, white and blue were seen in all the decorations, and the patriotic Idea was carried out in the scores, tallies and refreshments re-freshments as well. The guests numbered num-bered thirty-two, and prizes were won by Mrs. Julia Taylor and Mrs. George Ellerbeck. - Birthday Anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Jepson entertained last Saturday evening In honor of the blthday of Mrs. Jepson. American Beauty Beau-ty roses and white carnations were used in the very pretty decorations. A brief sketch of the early life of George Washington was given by Mrs. E. J. D. Roundy. Sixty-three was the game played and handsome prizes were given. The gentleman's gen-tleman's prize was won by A. S. Ken-ner; Ken-ner; the lady's prize by Mrs. McEwan. Mrs. Roundy drew the consolation prize.
