Show IaiILiLARD COUNTY WILL BUILD A RAILROAD Citizens of Millard county are deeply Interested in tho proposed construction of a ra lroad from Kanosh to Oasis, which la being strongly urged by prominent poo- plo of the southern county. The proposition proposi-tion Is purely a local one and a novel scheme has boon devised whereby the road may be built. It Is estimated that tho num of rTS.000 will be ncce-sary to grade the road and furnish the tins. Tho amount Is to bo paid with labor, If presunt plans do not miscarry, mis-carry, each able-bodied man In tho county coun-ty having agreed to donato his services with a team for a period of thirty-live days each. ThoHo who havo the proposition proposi-tion under consideration have llgurod it out that tho road can easily be built in that wav, A county convention has Just been held at Flllmoro. at which delegates from every village and hamlet in the county were present to discuss the vital railroad question. Officers and committees were appointed to devlso ways and means and to make a comploto report of tho result of their Investigations at another meeting, meet-ing, which will be held later. State Land Commissioner J. A. Melville Mel-ville was among the number who addressed ad-dressed the convention Ho stated that ho had visited various e.ectiical companies In tho Interest of an electric road, but that I hey had decided that such a plan was Impracticable. As for a railway, or dummy dum-my line, he said that money could easily be raised to provide the rolling stock and other equipment If tho people would grado tho road and furnish tho ties. His suggestion has practically been accepted ac-cepted and the citizens of that county stand ready to donate their labor at the proper time. It Is said that tho road la now practically assured. I |
