trails getting get-ting opened and many of the old residents resi-dents returning is a fair Indication of the return of spring and an early starting of mining operations generally Everybody Is in most excellent spirits and anticipates one of the most prosperous seasons yet witnessed In the La Sal country There Is a fair prospect of reduction works being built hero this season The party making the proposition of a cooperation co-operation with the mineowners informs in-forms us that he has hiM part of the work accomplished and now awaits u guarantee from the mineowners here that they will come up to their part in supplying the necessary amount of ore required to keep the mill going when completed The plants that they are to build the mill get lOln successful success-ful operation and the mineowners arc to furnish ten mining properties capable capa-ble of furnishing ten tons of ore per day of a value of 10 per ton guaranteed guaran-teed making 100 tons per day The mill is to have a capacity of seventy live tons per day and to be operated by the PartY In charge for the machinery and supply company they to run the mill and get the proceeds until it is paid for Including all expenses when it is to be turned over to a company composed of the mineowners and owned by them Jointly The project seems to be a feasible one and meetfl with general favor The proposition is almost assured Ores of a value ranging from 510 to SC5 are available in greater quantities than required re-quired to meet the demands of the agreement and when such an agreement agree-ment is made and in full force some of the properties can more than fill their proportion of the required amount It Is to be a concentrator or crushing mill with plates and concentrating tables as pare of the ores will be of a freemillinG character and the remainder remain-der an auriferous copper ore and high grade sulphides It Is too early yet to thoroughly and satisfactorily invest gate the surroundings but enough is now in shape to almost guarantee its success Alex Caldwell and J P Whlttaker of Mtrcur came in during the early part of the week and are now getting things In shape at the head of Deep creek In the Automobile property for resuming work on their tunnel being run to cut the Automobile vein al great depth of 350 They have now reached a depth feet and have about twenty feei yet togo to-go before cutting Into the ore body Mr Caldwoll brought in supplies with him to keen six men working for the season sea-son This Includes provisions car and track and all the necessary supplies for active operations The Automobile roporly Is situated on Mt Tomaski at the head of Deep creek about onehalt mile from the DlrlgoLa Sal property where the recant rich gold strike was made In running the tunnel on the Automobile Automo-bile pioperty several big hematite ironY Iron-Y lns have been cut In every Instance all have good values In gold the last strata showing highgrade values In chronium ores assaying 125 per pound in this rare class of metal I The big vein for which they are running the tunnel to crosscut Is about ilfty feet wide on the surface with every indication indi-cation of rich values In gold being found on the hanging wall which will be opened first when encountering the vein There Is much interest In the final results of the development of this property IS it is expected that equally ni good returns will be had as that from the Molly Gibson vein recently opened by the DIrigoLa Sal contractors contrac-tors The Automobile group of properties proper-ties are owned by McLaughlin Sonna of Mercur nnd Alex Caldwell and Robert Rob-ert James Thomson of this place Now that it Is an assured thing that the DirigoLa Sal company will build reduction re-duction works on Deep creek this season sea-son gives to the Automobile company a home market for their ores MeFsrs McCaun and S W West managers of the DirigoLa Sal property prop-erty arrived In camp last Tuesday Mr McCurm coming from Auburn olei the general office of the company and Mr West from Salt Lake his home They are now at the Molly Gibson property looking over their property and arranging with the contractors for a continuation of their work 300 feet yet to be run by them to complete their 600 feet ot contract This will be done in drifting both ways on the vein from the main tunnel They are very much pleased with the showing so far made which Insures them a small vein of son ore and highgrade values of good milling mill-ing ore for ten feet in width on the hanging wall of the main vein which is fully thirtyfive feet in width What I the results of future development work will reveal can only be surmised but the present value of the ore PO for shown Is sufficient to guarantee them a young bonanza Work Is to be started on the Grouse Mountain Mining l and Smelting com I panys property on the first day of May Mr William Jl Wheat the resident manager l was up here this week accompanied ac-companied by Mr DIxon of Moab who has been awarded the contract for running run-ning a tunnel 150 feet to cut the Mc Coach vein Mr Mrfjoach the president presi-dent of the company Is expected ou there t-here some time next month to carry out all the necessary plans for working the property on a largo scale this hummer in addition to arranging for the buildIng build-Ing of reduction works in this district The company ons a group of eight properties on Grouse Mountain north of Basin City and will do considerable work on all of them Mr Wheat expects ex-pects to have al least twenty men at work most of the summer outside oC contract work and la now preparing his premises here for the occasion Mr McCoarh Is a man of large financial interests In Huntington W Va the general offices of the Grouse Mountain Mining and Smelting company Work Is going ahead with all possible possi-ble vigor on the Towa property and while several gold veins of value have been cut by the crosscut tunnet the owners arc pushing ahead to cut the Burlington voln which shows rich gold values in a fluorine ore on the surface The tunnel has now attained a depth of 1C3 feet and they expect every foot to break into the fluorine vein Work will be continued on this property all summer Wolf McMuhon are vigorously pushing work on the Mineral Mountain tunnel to reach the Skylark vein When this is done they expect to be able to make a good shipment of ore to the new smelter at Grand Junction and then enter the combine here for furnishing fur-nishing their quota of ore to the proposed
