President of the United Slates has In an unprecedented manner attempted at-tempted to dictate what we shall do Until we have had time to get at the bottom of this I am opposed to going Into a caucus I has gone out to the North South East and West that Mr Reed Smoot is the choice of this Legislature Legis-lature for United States Senator Mr Hull attempted to soolh the gen tlemans rued feelings by get restive again and Mr Hull again explained ex-plained that there was no plot on foot to throw down Mr Smoot MIGHT BE A DEBT The only purpose of the caucus he said Is I to settle this matter In our own party I dont care If Smoot haw n unanimous vote in both houses We should hold JL l caucus anyway before we go Into a vote with the Democrats I we do not hold a caucus now two years from now they
