Show DEAN GETS THE SEAT Displaces George E Burbidge as City Councilman Judge Lewis yesterday handed down the findings of the court and decree in the election contest brought by George D Dean against George E Burbidge which was decided In favor of the former for-mer some time ago The decree declares de-clares the Republican nominee to have been elected as a shortterm Councilman Council-man from the Second ward and annuls an-nuls the certificate of election Issued I to George Burbidge by the City Council Coun-cil The decree was handed down yesterday yes-terday forenoon and In the afternoon Mr Dean appeared with a copy of the judgment and his official bond In the ofHcQ of City Recorder Nystrom The sureties named In the bond arc J U Eldrcdge Jr and Edward E Jenkins Mr Nyttiom hesitated about taking Mr Deans oath of office and asked the City Attorney for an opinion on the matter The City Recorder was In some doubt as to the legality of issuing is-suing the certificate of election to Mr Dean after already having Issued a certificate cer-tificate to the office to the Democratic nominee Burbldgc The City Attorney Attor-ney considered that the decision of Judge Lewis completely nullified the former certificate Issued to Burbidge and upon his Judgment the bond of Mr Dean was accepted ME Nystrom I will notify the Council of his action at the meeting tonight I |
