Show AGRICULTURAL COLLEGE PRESIDENT TANNER TO REMAIN TILL END OF JUNE Director of Experiment Station Must Not be President of College Number Num-ber of Applicants for Presidency TRIBUNE SPECIAL Logan Utah May 1Two lengthy sessions of the Agricultural college board of tru3tees was held today but very littje was accomplished The matter of electing a successor to J M Tanner Was deferred until the June meeting and on motion of Col Adams Dr Tanner was reemployed for the period of two months or until the end of the school year There was quite a heated discussion over the matter of postponing action on the election of president the local members of the board being anxious to accomplish that task today but they finally gave way to the persuasions of tho others Assistant Director of Experiment Stations E W Alien attended the llrst meeting of the board and after commending com-mending the work being done by the college which he said compared favorably fa-vorably with that being performed by any of the agricultural colleges he made It plain that tho Government docs not want one man to till the positions posi-tions of president of the college and director of the station This means the retention of Director Foster The secretary of the board was em powered to employ an assistant at a salary of 200 per year The rollowlnna ned persons had made application for the presidency of the college Prof George W Thomas of Logan Prof Joseph Whitely of Salt Lake Prof G W Shaw of Corvallls Or Dr M DewItt Long of Columbus 0 Col George M Edgar of Los Angeles An-geles Rev LouisM GHlllan of Salt aIm Dr J L Goodknlght residence not given Prof John Wldtsoe of Logan Lo-gan morrow The board adjourned until to I |
