last evening passed I a resolution providing that in future the city shall derive a continuous income I in-come from the earnings of parties to whom It may grant franchises The resolution which read compensation com-pensation in a conUnuous Income from the gross earnings of any corporation or of private parties asking fur a franchise fran-chise And be It further Resolved That no franchise be r hereafter granted by the city which I does not reserve to the municipality I thc right to become repossessed of such I franchise upon the payment to the 11 owners thereof a fair and equitable pum for houses stores saloon and I other places of business or Sundays was passed unanimously without debate de-bate A resolution offered by Canning prohibiting pro-hibiting owners of property from allowing al-lowing dead trees and weeds to remain on the sidewalks was passed VALLEY RAILROAD FRANCHISE J I I On motion of Beatty the proposed or I t linance granting a franchise for an electric railroad to the Salt Lake Valley Val-ley Railroad company was called UI r and read Beatty urged thai It was I only fair to the company to dispose of tho matter one way or another The franchise ho said was reasonable and ho favored granting It Howe Edgar moved that the resolution reso-lution be read second and third times anti passed I Robertson moved that It be tabled p and the motion was seconded by
