| Show MEETING OF MACHINISTS HELD A CONFERENCE ON STRIKE MATTER I Refused to Give Out the Result of Their Deliberations NonCommittal NonCommit-tal as to Action Monday 1 Out of the SIlO machinists of the city about thirty attended the meeting at G A R hall last evening when the question of the demands ordered by the International Association of Machinists Machin-ists came up for discussion After the meeting the men absolutely refused to state what action had been taken When approached several of the members who were said lo be young newcomers lo the city were without any cause whatever very insulting in their remarks re-marks and actions They were apologized apolo-gized for by several of the wise heads whomore courteously explained that the order was to give out no Information Informa-tion Mr Jarman being the spokesman of the members It was learned yesterday that many of the older Salt Lake machinists in both the big railroad shops arc very I much opposed to walking out at this time as they arc getting good wages and able to get In plenty of overtime for which they get one and a half pay that is i they get paid overtime at the rate of one and a half hours for each hours labor performed The boys last night said they did not know what would happen on Monday Mon-day but one of them when seen later intimated that there had been considerable consid-erable talk of a t compromise |
