| Show WILL NOT BE PROSECUTED BOY GUILTLESS IN CASE OF OLD MANS DEATH Coroners Jury Holds an Inquest Regarding Re-garding the Death of James L Davis Da-vis Case 0 A Coroners jury acquitted 14year old Howard Young yesterday of the responsibility for the death of James I L Davis returning a verdict that the r deceased came to his death as the result re-sult of blood poisoning caused by an I abrasion of the skin Inflicted with a rock thrown by the Young boy without I with-out felonious Intent The Inquest was held before Judge Dana Smith the i Jury consisting of Thomas S Fowler John M Woolley and J N Eallnger I The first witness examined was P C Casey an upholsterer who was an eyewitness eye-witness of the assault which led to the death of Davis Casey said that after I Davis had struck Jay Young a 13yearold son of Mrs Young his mother came down stairs and slapped I the aged man in the face Davis retaliated re-taliated by striking twice at her one I of the blows hitting her In the face It was at his juncture he said that young Howard stepped from a crowd of youngsters who were looking on and hurled the rock which struck Davis Da-vis In the back of tho head felling him Fred Urich a cook who also I I witnessed the occurrence was next I placed on the stand his testimony practically substantiating that offered i by Casey Mrs Young when called upon to testify told of the trouble I with Davis saying that when she beheld be-held him In the act of striking her son i across the face with a stick she at I once hastened to the scene to call him to account She admitted slapping him In the face and says that no sooner had he returned the blow than her son struck him with a rock She denied having called Davis any vile names Dr Fischer the last witness told I of the nature of the wound which the I rock caused on the head of tho deceased I de-ceased saying that the Injury In itself it-self was Insignificant and would not have proven serious had not blood poisoning set In As soon as the Jury returned its verdict ver-dict Mrs Young and her two sons were released from custody |
