NOTHING ACCOMPLISHED Steel Operators and Employess Have Not Yet Agreed Pittsmirpr July 12The second day of the conference between the Amalgamated Association of Iron Steel and Tin Workers and the steel manufacturers came to a close tonight to-night without an agreement and from Indications late tonight a settlement or a general strike will be decided I uponWhen the conference odjourncd all of the conferees were appealed to for Information as to the status of affairs but nothing dcnnlte could be learned Late tonight however President Shaffer of the Amalgamated association associa-tion consented to be quoted In the following fol-lowing statement Nothing actually was accomplished today No proposition was submitted by either side to the controversy No time limit has been set on tho conference con-ference but it must come to an end Tomorrow must settle It one way or another If no agreement Is reached the general strike which was et for last Monday will proceed I am atlll hoping for a settlement When asked if in the event of a strike It would Jnvolvc all tho plants rot c United States Steel corporation Mr Shafror replied that every union man IP every plant Jn any way connected I con-nected with the steel corporation would be called out j 04 l
