Show STUDENTS ON A LARK UNIVERSITY NORMALS AND PRKPS GO SERENADING Visited Many Friends of the University Univer-sity Inclusive Newspaper Offices Of-fices and Had a Merry Time The 5ecolld ear normals and preps of tho University class of 1D03 wcro out on a merry lark last evening With Varsity Bongs college yells class rhymes and tinhorns tho students mado themselves much in evidence about town and also gavo a number of serenades Early In the evening tho boys and girls about sixty In number gathered at tho corner of First South and Main street and under the leadership of Inspector L E Young the godfather of tho class began be-gan their merry march arousing much curiosity among pedestrians and residents along the line At tho home of President T Klngs bury tho class sang America tho Slar Spangled Banner and gave several cheers and yells for tho president the class and tho school Dr Klngsbury re sponclcd with a very gracious speech complimenting tho class for Its energy I and college spirit I They next serenaded All Hallows col 1 logo l where they were woll received by a I pleasant exchange of courtesies in tho form of felicitous speeches and good wishes At tho home of Senator Rawllns the serenade was graciously acknowledged by Mrs Rawlins who said the Senator would appreciate the compliment al though ho had retired Mr Young rc BnoiKlod on behalf of tho class and tho University expressing tho gratitude of tho students for what Senator Rawllnu has done for tho Institution Prof G M Marshall also received tho sercnaders with a happy speech Then tho students went their Jolly way attracting curious youngsters to every gate as they passed by with songs and yells and tinhorns blowing The Hcrc nadcrs stopped also at the eltv and coun ty building Rowland Hall school and at tho homes of Prof Maud May Babcock Prof J B foronto and Regents James Sharp AV W Biter and Mrs Rebecca E Little Late In the evening they made their I farewells at tho newspaper offices 1 I |
