Show QUEEN FOR A j DAY EXPERIENCE OF MISS DINA SANDERS OF OGDEN Netherland Societies of Ogden and Salt Lake Have Pleasant Reunion I I at Lagoon I 1 The Netherland societies of Salt I Lake and Ogden had un enjoyable reunion I I re-union and Joint excursion at the Lagoon La-goon yesterday There were probably I 500 people down from Ogden and fully half that number from Salt Lake The excursion was arranged by the Ogden society those having special charge being G S Abel Ether > Jeutc boom and J S Do Dry These gentlemen gentle-men worked Indefatigably to make the occasion a pleasant one and were thoroughly thor-oughly successful August 31st was chosen as the day for the outing by reason of its being the natal day of the Wllhelmina Queen of the Netherlands who celebrated her I twentieth birthday yesterday To give the excursion added Interest the committee arranged a voting contest con-test to determine who should be queen of the day This contest took place In I Ogden and when the votes were counted count-ed Miss Dma Sanders who received 6905 votes was declared the queen elect The coronation took place In the I presence of the excursionists who occupied oc-cupied seats in the grand stand Miss Sandcis was handsomely I gowned in white satin en train trimmed with lace Ether Neuleboom officiated at the coronation and made I an address A fitting response was made by the queen who promised her loyal subjects a peaceful reign The ceremonies were most Interesting and the audience applauded roundly as the queen arose to begin her reign for a day She was shown around the grounds and later presided at a banquet ban-quet During the progress of the afternoon af-ternoon programme and sports she sat with her subjects in the grand stand Near her were her escort Mr Neute boom and the maWs of honor Miss KIka Koldewyn and Miss Gertie Rog mr mrPrizes Prizes were awarded to the following follow-ing holders of lucky numbers of railroad road tickets Martha Schat Mrs Johanna Jo-hanna Bakker Miss Rim Schuttc Paul Van Komen John Evrard Mrs Ernest vammeyer John Jeutcboom John Creeze Mrs J Den Hartog and Mary Smedlng Martin Dalebout of Salt Lake won tho prize In the elocutionary contest The young people were entertained during the afternoon with numerous aces contests etc For the winner of each event there was a valuable prize the committee having received liberal contributions froni the merchants of Ogden ror The excursion was In every way a pleasant and successful one |
