Show NEWS OF THE GUARD II I i Tuesday evening will see the beginning begin-ning of the encampment The various organifitlono will assemble at the armory at West Temple from which place the entire command will march to the camp on the lower parade ground at Fort Douglas Assembly preparatory prepara-tory to taking up the lino of march will be sounded promptly at 7 n m Each soldier Is expcctfd to be on hand promtly at G30 a in and to be provided with the articles of wearing apparel mentioned In the encampment order n copy of which Is In the hands of each company commander 0 a 0 c The companies stationed outside tho city are due at the armory tomorrow I i evening and they will spend the night at that place Detachments from the I various companies will man the two I Galling guns during the encampment S S M The mounted branch of the service In finally represented In the Guard A cavary troop recruited by Joseph E Caine and A G Mackenzie was mustered mus-tered Into the service Wednesday night by Gen Cannon However the membership I mem-bership has not as yet reached such proportions as to admit of an election of officers The rccrulllng officers appointed ap-pointed are selecting only good material and the work of getting desirable members mem-bers Is somewhat slow An election of ofllcers will he held at the armory Thursday September 13th at S oclock 1 Company B made quick work of electIng I elect-Ing a Captain and First Lieutenant Thursday night Capt O H Hasslng I was reelected unanimously First Sergt Frank C Moylc and Lieut So phus Lund were nominated for the First Lieutenancy The first ballot gave Scrgt Moyle 27 votes and Lieut J Lund 3 Both Hassing and Moylc have received their letters of appointment from headquarters An examination to fill the vacant first scrgcantcy will beheld be-held before the encampment o > In respect to the late Col Thomas J Stevens all staff and line officers have been directed by headquarters to wear a strip of black crepe on their sword hilts for a period of ten days Many of the officers will attend the funeral at Ogden today at 2 p m |
