Show OPENING ROWLAND HALL SEPJDnnu i1ir Rowland Hall does not resume duty until Septembor 12th after tho hot weather has passed While the teach ing staff Is practically the same as last 1 year it has been strengthened by the I addition of one or two new teachers I For some years special attention has been paid to English and for the coming com-ing year a resident teacher has been I employed who will be at the head of this department and carry on the most excellent work which has already ben I begun Miss Blair a graduate of Smith college Mass who will have this department I de-partment comes highly recommended for this Important deportment The preparatory department embraces the I eight grades usually taught In the pub lie schools and from the eighth grab tho child passes to the academic department I de-partment which covers foul years oC I study Including 1 the higher branches as well Latin I as Latn Greek French and German All of these branches are apart a-part J of the regular course and are I covered by the Regular small tuition and are not treated as extras After the kindergarten has been passed the children come under the care of Miss Simpson a lady who has had experience experi-ence In the public schools of New York Officials of the New York school boards board-s of her She has the rare faculty S of not only having a good foundation I hut also of kindling the interest of her pupils and making them love the work even as she does She brings to her work n natural adaptation aided by thorough trainIng and experience I Miss Charlotte E HaYden so well known to the public of Salt Lake as to need no Introduction will hac charge of tho higher grades of the preparatory department In the academic department depart-ment Misses Colbourne Humphrey Blair and Mrs W C Jennings are the I regular teachers aided by special teachers In music drawing elocution I and gymnastics Miss Flanders and Mrs Swenson as teachers of the piano and voice culture do not need any Introduction to the people peo-ple of Salt Lake The mere fact that Rowland Hall has secured such artists Is a guarantee of the kind of work which Is done In addition a lady has been employed as housemother who will care for pupils with a mothers interest out of school hours Mrs Cab l devotes her time to the care of the house and providing of comfortable and wholesome table for the family The building and grounds have been Improved this summer and everything is now in readiness for the mental moral and physical training of the large number of pupils who will be in attendance at-tendance Miss Colburne the principal maybe may-be seen any day after Friday Sep 7th |
