Show SWEDISH OUTING 4 i PLEASANT DAY PASSED AT LAGOON Sports Music and Dancing Under Auspices of the Norden Literary Society Lagoon Notes Yesterday was Swedish day at Lagoon La-goon An excursion under the auspices of the Norden Literary society was conducted and COO or more Swedes from Salt Lake spent a happy afternoon after-noon and evening at the popular resort During the afternoon a racing pro gramme free t6 all the excursionists r was given and prizes were awarded to the following Girls under S RIna Blomqulst 8 to 10 Bcda Nordvall 10 to 15 Miss Annie Anderson Young ladles 15 to 25 Miss Edith Reed ReeLadles Ladles under 10 Mrs Emily Carlson Ladles 40 to CO Johanna SJogren Old ladles Mrs Hanna Dlsen Race for boys under S Oscar Carlson boys S to 10 Ernest Larson 10 to 15 Gideon Robinson young mens race 15 to 25 W W Wllley men 25 to 10 F C A Carlson 10 to CO Charles J Llnd gren over CO L F Erlcksen The first and second prizes for the mens boat racewere won by Rangvald Carlson and Axel Gustafson respectively respec-tively In the ladles boat race Hllma Ce derstrom won first prize Maria Jan son second A sporting and literary programme was rendered on the athletic grounds In the evening opening with a sack race for boys prizes being awarded to I Henry Gyllensvan and Andrew Berg strom The nut race prizes were won by Oscar Os-car Larson and Oscar Lundgrcn Following these eents Olsons orchestra or-chestra opened the musical programme which was rendered on the grand stand stage A male quartette club sang a selection entitled Amaryllis An address ad-dress In Swedish was given by Otto Rydman followed by another quartette quar-tette Deep In the Sea John Lawson sang several comic songs In Swedish and was heartily ap plauded An Interesting feature of the entertainment enter-tainment was the exhibition of Gus I Lawson who on n stationary wheel showed what It was to go a mile In less than forty seconds Ills time according ac-cording to the dial on the second mile was thirtysix seconds The Sextette club rendered another selection and then the people picnicked L until evening when Q ball was given in I the pavilion The grounds were illuminated Illu-minated with Chinese lanterns and I presented a beautiful appearance dur ing the evening The return to the city was made on the midnight train Lagoon Notes Tho Labor day celebration will close Lagoon for the season so far as the public Is concerned On the following day however the employees of the resort re-sort and of the Bambcrgcr Coal company com-pany and omces will have n day for their own amusement the Lagoon hay lug been placed In their hands for that day Tho sports during tho day will I be followed by 0 banquet In the even ing tendered by Charles Scyboldt The boys will see to It that the most fun possible Is extracted from Employees day S S Tho Presbyterian Sundayschool of Kaysvlllc spent yesterday u at the resort A great heap of Atones was yesterday placed on the grounds ready for Mon days clambake |
