Show S DRIVERS ACCEPT OFFER BREWERY EMPLOYEES ARE S S NOW SATISFIED Proposition of Breweries Accepted by Drivers and Stablemens Union After Af-ter a Very Breezy Discussion At the conclusion of a very brecfcy meeting the Drivers and Stablemens union decided last night to accept the proposition made by the three brewery companies in response to a demand made by the union The demand of the banisters was for regular hours and u standayd of wages for the different classes Also that a stableman be employed at each brew cry and that in cases of layoff the youngest men in point of service should go After receiving this demand the brewery companies submitted a proposition which contemplated eleven hours work in May June July and August ten hours in September October Octo-ber March and April and nine hours during remaining months the salaries sal-aries to range from 65 to 75 per month The companies also agreed to employ a stableman at 5G5 per month but insisted that in laying men off they be permitted to use their discretion In the matter When the proposition of the companies com-panies came up before the union last night President Burquist and Secretary Secre-tary Cast arc said to have led a fight against it which caused its defeat on the first vote Later however the vote was reconsidered and the proposition propo-sition of the brewery companies wds accepted for one year Instead of two which was the time specified by the companies The principal fight made by President Presi-dent Burquist and Secretary Cast against the proposition of the brewery brew-ery companies was as to the clause which allows the employers to layoff whoa they please during the dull season sea-son although the opponents of the two officers claim that Burquist and Cast fpught everything that promised an amicable settlement of the differences and that nobody present was able to discover Just what they did want |
