Show To Harrow Helicft of Columbus. Washington, Feb. 17. Representative Dnrhorow of Illinois introduced la the house four joint resolutions bearing on the World's fair. The tiret resolution authorized author-ized the president to request the government govern-ment of Spain, the municipal government of (ienoa, the Duke of Veragua, a descendant descen-dant of Columbus, and such other persouB or corporations as may bo thouirht proper, the loan of artic les, papers, books, maps, documents and other relics of Coluiulius and persons associated with him, or with the early settlement of America, for exhibit on at the World's fair. Other ('solutions authorize the presi-dmt presi-dmt to cxtcr d to Alfonso XIII, the Queen Regent of Spain and the living desc endants of Columbus, an invitation to attend the opening ceremonies of the fair as guests of the government and people oi the United States also to authorize the presidents of the other American republics and the governors gov-ernors of American colonies to participate In the dedication ceremonies in October next, and the ceremonies attending the opeuing of tic exposition in May, 18U3; ami, finally to authorize the librarian id' congress to exhibit ex-hibit at the fair such books, etc., as mav relate to Columbus and the early history of America. |
