Tho number of deaths among army officers in 1H1K) was unusually heavy, as will bo appreciated by reference to the following, and members of the army mutual aid association have consequently conse-quently had many assessments to meet. Besides Major Generals John C. Fremont, Fre-mont, George Crook and Alfred H. Terry, Brigadier-Generals Nelson H. Davis and Isaac Van Dnsen Reeve, and Surgeon-General J. H. Baxter, there were three colonels, three lieutenant-colonels, lieutenant-colonels, four majors, twenty-seven captains, eight first lieutenants and three second lieutenants. This is a total to-tal of fifty-four. |
