The First Presbyterian church was thronged last night by music lovers, who had eome out to attend tipou the closiug autertainment of the Ladies' Musical society. Miss Alice B. Calk-ins of Ogdeu, and H. S. Krouse began the entertainment with an overture from Taunebaueser. Miss Daisy Wood sang two exquisite numbers, being followed by the string quintette. Messrs. Weihe, Mclntvre. Olscm.Rordamo and Youugdale. Miss t alkitis came next with a piano solo and the quartette returned with a lul-laby. Grant Hampton did an excellent bari-tone solo and Misses Krouse and Mcln-tvre appeared iu a duet. A charming piano soprano solo. Songs," by Mrs. V. M. C. A resolution was unanimously adopted ordering the city marshal to prevent the discharge of fireworks on the Fourth of July on Main street from South Tem-ple to Third South. RELATING TO A COW PATCH. In reference to the cowsheds on the southwest corner of Seveuth East and Fourth South, the sanitary committee reported they found the premises clean and well kept, and not in their opinion detrimental to the public health. Still they did not think it right to keep so large a dairy in a thickly populated portion of the city, and recommended that the proprietor be requested to make a removal as soon as he can do So without " sacrifice ' 6f property or damage to his business. He has al-ready agreed to do so. THE CITY ATTORNEY OBJECTS. Regarding tho subject of the city sur-veyor approving maps, plats and sub-divisions the city attorney reported as follows: "It is of tho utmost import-ance that tho waters of City creek should be kept as free from pollution as possible, and the reasons for approv-ing such maps aud plats should bo kept within the power of tho council to ex-ercise their best discretion, and not leave the matter of such approval to a city officer, who, under tho resolution referred to, would have no discretion in the matter."
