Show Citizens Invited To Council Meeting Thurs, July 9, at 8 i Several months ago Bountiful City applied to the Federal Emergency Emer-gency Administration of Public Works for a project to improve, increase, and enlarge its waterworks water-works system. The full cot, including both labor la-bor and material, was to be an amount above $30,000.00, however, it was admitted at the time that by reducing certain desired extensions exten-sions and by making alterations to the plan that the city could still put in a very much needed im. provenient in the system at a much less amount. The P. W. A. has recently advised advis-ed Bountiful City that it appear3 the request will bs granted providing provid-ing the city can finance the amount required for its part. Under this type of a project P. W. A. pays 55 per cent of the total cost and the city pays 45 per cent. For this reason the city council deems it very advantageous to be able to accept such an offer at the present pres-ent time, but before they do so they desire to have further advice from any citizen or group of citi. zens who are interested in the rriatcr and to this end they have set Thursday, July 9th at 8 o'clock p. m. for a special meeting of the City Council so that they may listen lis-ten to any interested citizens relative rela-tive to the question of Bountiful City going into further debt to take advantage of this offered project. It will still be several weeks before be-fore the P. W. A. will be in a position to make a definite grant and during this time Bountiful City will have the opportunity to make it3 necessary plans if the city wants to accept the grant. It is not yet certain but it may be necessary that a new bond issue will be required for the amount that Bountiful City will have to pay. One important thing that the City Council will have to decide is whether or not they wish to proceed pro-ceed under the full plan or whether they should reduce and limit the intended improvements. These are the points that Bountiful citizens should consider in the meantime and be prepared to express themselves them-selves at the coming meeting. It is intended that the full plana will be available at the meeting, showing what the enlargements and improvements are consisting of and so that every interested person per-son will have the opportunity to know beforehand just what is intended. in-tended. Several neighborning towns have recently availed themselves of the same opportunity. Woods Cross, now an incorporated town, has just enlarged its water system and Cen-tervills Cen-tervills has done the eame. |
