Show THE STONEWALL MINE news san diego gala cala col S H lucas general manager of the stonewall mine was a caller at the news office monday the colonel and mrs lucus came down from Cuy amaca with dr sails and geo H clarke of auburn me two of the p prominent romi nent stockholders in the Cuy amaca mining and ranch company who have been up at the mine for the past week they express themselves as satisfied with the property and well pleased with the work that has so far been accomplished the mill was started friday but a slight break of the machinery necessitated a shutdown until the broken part could be repaired the stamps will however be dropping again the last of this week the business affairs of the company have been somewhat interrupted owing to the death of the president of the company which occurred about six weeks ago the ownership interests have been adi adjusted and a new president will be elected soon the stonewall mill consists of twenty stamps and is in perfect working order the mine and mill were shut down upon the death of the owner governor waterman some nine or ten years ago since which time no effort has been made to work it until the present company acquired the property the mine has yielded over 2 in bullion all from free milling ore and has never been worked below the foot level although large and well defined ore bodies are known to exist at that depth it is estimated that will be required to pump out the mine and it and the eastern stockholders have assured manager lucas that the amount required will be placed at his disposal within the next sixty lays days it seems but reasonable to believe that the palmy days of the stonewall will not only be equaled but exceeded I 1 |
