| Show the boston commercial says the bingham consolidated of utah has temporarily pora rily discontinued work on its dalton lard tunnel and is using all its spare men on the work of getting the now mines on the brooklyn and lark veins in shape for steady production the original purpose of the tunnel was to drain the mines and this object has been accomplished later it will be extended through the veins at great depth and will then be used as an operating tunnel the receding water has revealed valuable ore reserves in the several old mines and the management proposes to begin to turn a portion of this to account immediately shipments are already being made to the bingham smelter from the dalton lark properties and these will soon be greatly increased the prospect is that one or two months hence the bingham smelter will be turning out approximately as much bullion as the utah consolidated C D of this city for himself and associates has obtained a lease on the old alta tramway from the R G W railroad company this tram connects the grand old mining camp of alta with the railroad at sandy and when in operator ope raton used mules as motive power mr will organize a company composed largely of alta mine owners and will reconstruct and equip the line at an estimated cost of the road to be electrically tri cally operated work to begin as early in the spring as possible at the present time alta is shipping about 50 tons of ore daily by team when the tram is in running or 9 der it is believed that the daily output will exceed tons which tonnage will be materially teri ally increased later on this is an enterprise which will be of great benefit to the raining mining industry of alta and the spirit of enterprise ter prise exhibited by mr in this connection is most commendable samuel newhouse principal owner of thy them cactus mine in copper gulch beaver county has contracted to deliver to the american smelting smelling Sm elting refining company at murray utah ore to the value of shipments will begin as soon as the new copper smelter now in course of construction st is completed the oregon short allne c addas bow i made a rate of 4 a ton on low grade firby sores ores from hailey idaho Ida hoto ta the smelters shelters sm elters of salt lake city |
